The Integrated Bar of the Philippines, together with volunteer lawyers organizations church and school-based organizations as well as NGOs, public interest and civil society groups, relaunched the Legal Network for Truthful Elections (LENTE) last February 16, 2010 with a MOA signing at the IBP National Office in Ortigas, Pasig City.

Eastern Mindanao Governor Atty. Roan I. Libarios and One Voice head Atty. Carlos P. Medina served as co-convenors of the LENTE relaunching. They were joined by representatives of CBCP-NASSA, NAMFREL, LIBERTAS, CODE-NGO and the Philippine Council for Islam and Democracy (PCID).

In reviving LENTE, the groups saw the need to ensure the conduct of free, clean, honest and credible elections. They also agreed to have LENTE accredited as a national citizens’ arm of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC). LENTE’s three main aims are voter education, monitoring and legal assistance, and election accountability.
